Home Inspection Tips

If you’re feeling a little overwhelmed with where to start your journey searching for the best South Florida home inspector, you’ve come to the correct place. In addition to some of the tips provided below, we feel the best place to start is by becoming familiar with what exactly a basic home inspection report will include, at minimum.

The typical elements being inspected when you order a full home inspection includes:

  • External conditions & surfaces/grading

  • Roof, attic, insulation & ventilation

  • Crawl spaces, if applicable

  • Garage, walls, driveway & walkways

  • Heating & cooling systems

  • Plumbing systems

  • Electrical systems

  • Interiors (floors, ceilings, and walls)

  • Doors and windows

  • Fixed Appliances

Some home inspectors will provide more ancillary services than others, which will save you time, money, and headache, by not having to coordinate a bunch of contractors. Some of the additional services often provided include:

  • 4-Point Insurance Inspections

  • Wind Mitigation Insurance Inspections

  • Termite Inspection

  • Mold Testing

  • Water Testing

  • Infrared Inspections

  • Roof Inspections

  • Pool Inspections

  • Well Inspections

  • Barn Inspections

  • Drone Photography

Many home inspectors, including Florida’s Favorite Home Inspections, know that most of the time a buyer will be needing either the wind mitigation or four-point inspection for insurance purposes, and as such will offer a discount when you include these in your full home inspection. For other services, most will charge an extra fee, so it’s always smart to ask if the price you’re being quoted includes these add-on inspections. Even with the additional charge, you’re likely to find that adding services to your inspection is cheaper than having a separate contractor make an independent trip to the home.

Once you have a good understanding of the inspection options available to you, some other things to consider are the qualifications of the inspector / company.
